Trade Stimulator Gumball Machine
This is a Groetchen "Twenty one" machine, made in Chicago, IL in 1934 by the Groetchen Tool Co.It was used as a trade stimulator in taverns as a gambling machine. It dispenses gumballs, to circumvent gambling laws.Twenty One is a blackjack game played with numbers. When a Coin is inserted, you push the handle down, all reels spin. The first three reels are shuttered. You see the "DEAL" reels four and five (marked 2 and 1). Use reels two and three (marked 4 and 3) for draws. If you are on or under 21 and have a chance to win, flip the "HOUSE" lever (marked 5) and see if you are a winner.
